Primary Rules of Gun Safety
- Handle all guns as if they are loaded.
- Never point a gun in an unsafe direction.
- Keep fingers off the trigger until sights are on the target.
- Know the target and what is beyond it.
Safety Rules
- EQUIPMENT
- Eye and ear protection is mandatory.
- PERSONAL
- No person under the influence of drugs or alcohol is allowed on the range.
- Minors are prohibited from shooting unless directly supervised by an adult.
- One shooter at a time per bay unless a firing line for that bay is established.
- No shooting from outside the bays.
- No person goes down range until shooting in that bay has stopped.
- Before any person goes down range all guns in that bay shall be made safe.
- Guns shall not be handled when any person is down range.
- TARGETS
- Only cardboard, paper, and polymer targets may be used.
- Only CVP provided steel targets may be used (no personal steel)
- Ground-based polymer targets are prohibited
- No explosive targets, no tannerite
- No clay pigeons.
- No targets shall be placed on or near the top of the berm.
- Targets shall be placed in such a manner as to reduce the chance of a ricochet leaving the bay.
- Steel must be shot from 9 yards away, or further
- AMMUNITION
- Black powder rifles and shotgun slugs may not be shot at steel targets.
- No steel core, frangible or poly ammo may be shot at steel targets.
- No handling of ammunition in designated safe areas.
Range Rules
- Hours of Range Usage: Sunrise to Sunset..
- No center fire rifles or pistols that use center fire rifle caliber.
- The range is for pistols, rim fire rifles, pistol caliber carbines, shotguns and black powder rifles
- Pick up trash and spent casings.
- All guests must be accompanied by CVPC members and must sign the liability waiver located at the kiosk. Drop signed waiver in metal box at kiosk..
